Program Outcome 10

Implement a self-directed plan for career development, credentialing, and lifelong learning

Criteria

10.1. participate in professional and community organizations

10.2. value the importance of participating in the clinical education of physical therapist assistant students

10.3. accept responsibility for active learning

10.4. establish a personal timeline for credentialing and ongoing professional development

10.5. examine professional issues related to physical therapy practice

In my second clinical rotation, I was working in an outpatient clinic where I was required to present in an in-service. I chose to talk about Genomics, which could in the future help us tailor our interventions to our patients with their genetic makeup. According to the APTA, genomics is going to make an appearance soon in our treatments. Although this topic is all very new to physical therapy, I thought it would be interesting to talk to my supervising PT's and PTA's to expose them to this. This is accepting responsibility for active learning and examining professional issues related to physical therapy practice.
